This stories I actually just started very recently. (On the 20th of Feb to be exact.) It was an idea that just popped into my head and I actually combined a few of my other ideas for failed stories in here too! I'm really excited about this story and I hope you'll enjoy it! It's not too exciting at first but as the story goes on it does. :) If you've read my other stories, you know that I like putting unexpected thing in my stories and also like writing dark stories. This one isn't that dark and there isn't really anything unexpected that I've planned out yet, but that could change.
Feel free to check out my other stories:

We arrived when it was dark so not many people were hanging around. The people that felt fine headed off to bed and the others, like Sage, were helped to the infirmary. I didn’t leave Sage’s side for a moment and Zeth and Cayden left to go to bed. Zeth was going to check back in on Sage tomorrow sometime and left to go home. Sage didn’t fall asleep and neither did I. His sight was coming back slowly but he could only see dark blurs. He was still extremely weak and I was worried about how long it would take him to recover. But I began to grow tired and he knew this by hearing my voice.
“You should sleep.” He said softly.
I opened my mouth to protest but he touched my cheek and the words stopped in my throat. After a few moments I gave in. I was used to sleeping in the chair and leaned forward, placing my head on the bed and closing my eyes. Sage lightly kissed my forehead, making me blush and then settled back down. I must have been pretty tired because I fell asleep rather quickly and before I knew it, light was shining through the window. I sat up and stretched before glancing back at Sage. He was still asleep and it surprised me that I hadn’t waken him up. I was thinking about whether I should go to breakfast to stay with Sage when the door opened and Zeth slipped inside. He nodded his greeting at me and I noticed that there was a bandage around his side from a wound he’d gotten from Siravas. There were a few other gashes but nothing serious.
“He hasn’t woken up has he?” He asked in a very quiet voice.
I nodded and glanced back at Sage. Zeth came over beside the bed and lightly touched his arm. Sage didn’t move. The door opened again and Kyrie came in. Zeth asked what was wrong with him and she briefly glanced Sage over.
“He’s extremely weak and it may take him a few days to recover his strength so you best not disturb him.” She said, setting down a bag on the counter.
“How long until he wakes up?” I asked.
“A few hours probably. I had to give him a strong drug so he wouldn’t push himself to hard like he normally does. If I guess right he’ll come to around lunch but maybe later.” Kyrie said. “I didn’t exactly get the story of what happened.”
I explained about the disappearances of Sage and then about how we tried to find out about Siravas Welv. Zeth filled her in on the rest up to the point where we’d gotten back.
“And you’ve been living by yourself for how long?” She asked him.
Zeth had to think for a moment.
“Seven or eight years I guess.” He said.
Kyrie raised an eyebrow but said nothing more.
“You can head on down to breakfast, Aerista.” She said. “I don’t think they’ll mind if Zeth goes too. I need to tend to a few of his wounds.”
I nodded and got up heading out the door with Zeth hovering behind me. Once we got through the doors it felt like everyone in the room rushed at me wanting to know what happened. Zeth was smirking slightly as he slipped unseen into line. Cayden, Raed, and Cori managed to pull me away from the crowd so I was able to get breakfast.
“They’ve been like that all morning.” Raed said. “Always asking what happened and wanting to hear the story again.”
“You’re still here?” Cori asked, glancing at Zeth as he came over and leaned against the wall.
“How’s Sage doing?” Cayden asked.
I smiled slightly, knowing Cayden would be the one to ask this.
“I think he’s doing ok, Kyrie didn’t exactly give us a straight answer.” I said slowly.
Lila spotted me and came over to give me a big hug.
“You have no idea how glad I am to be back.” She said.
“I think I do actually.” Cori muttered, next to me.
I smiled at her and she sat down next to me, asking for me to tell the story of how we found them. Raed rolled his eyes.
“Li, you’ve heard it from me, Cori, Keera, and Tika at lease three times each.” He said.
Lila playfully stuck her tongue out at him.
“But Aerista hasn’t told it.” She said.
She then spotted Zeth leaning against the wall and staring out the window. Her eyes widened slightly and I groaned inwardly knowing the look in them.
“Who’s that?” She asked in a slightly dreamy voice.
“That’s Zeth, Sage’s cousin.” I answered, returning my attention to my food. “Sorry, but he’s not a prince so he doesn’t qualify to be on the List. I don’t think he’s stay too long anyways.”
Lila nodded at what I said but never stopped staring at Zeth.
“He’s almost as good looking at Sage.” She said mostly to herself.
“Almost?” Cayden asked.
Lila jumped forgetting that Cayden was right next to her. Her face reddened.
“N-not that we’re going to remake the Cutie List or anything.”
“Why would you have to remake it?” Izza asked coming over and sitting next to Cayden.
“Well you see…Sage burnt the last one.” Tika said.
Raed, Cori, and Cayden couldn’t help but start snickering.
“Remind me to give him a high-five next time I see him.” Cori said laughing.
Zeth seemed distracted watching something in the forest and then stiffened. I noticed the moment and glanced back at him.
“What’s wrong?” I asked quickly.
Zeth didn’t reply but I’d gotten Cayden’s attention. He got up and went by Zeth, looking where he was looking.
“I don’t see anything.” He said, confused.
Zeth pointed into the forest.
“That’s because your eyes aren’t as good as mine. There’s a person clothed in black hiding just behind those bushes.” He said, softly.
Cayden squinted in the direction for a while and then looked at Zeth.
“You’re right, you can see better than me.” He said.
Zeth gaze moved as the person moved.
“Is it another assassin?” I asked quietly.
Zeth slowly nodded once.
“And I left my sword at home.” He muttered. “Not that I need it.”
Zeth pointed two fingers at the figure that neither Cay nor I could see and a blue laser of energy shot from the tips. Luckily the window was open and the laser shot right through the hole. There was a shrill yelp but it stopped. Zeth stared at one place for a moment before returning his gaze to the forest. He wasn’t tense anymore and I knew that he’d just killed the assassin.

Zeth: But cool.
Me: Just wait until the next chapter.
Xrilyth: *hisses a chuckle*
