Codebearers

Hey everyone!

This is the second book after The Felixi! I've also written an RPG and a third book.

I hope you'll enjoy this one as much as the first, but I'm going to warn you. It's going to be quite different.

They're may be blood or gruesome scenes so I wouldn't recommend it for younger kids. Also there's some romance for those of you who are "allergic" to it.

Please feel free to give comments. Don't copy this either please. This is my hard work, I put it up here for people to enjoy, not copy. Thank you and enjoy! -^-^-

Prologue

She sat there, in her rocking chair, her face toward the window. Her long gray hair was braided then put into a tight bun atop her head.  She smiled slightly showing her wrinkles, proving she had been alive for many years. Children ran around her yard laughing and playing, they were so happy on this side of the world. She couldn’t help but to think of all the other children on the world though, the ones that weren’t as lucky and living in the peaceful country. Her eyes were white and cloudy from being blind for so long. She closed them and saw the war ridden side of the world. People young and old, using their powers to kill each other. She opened her eyes and wiped them with a dainty cloth and stood. The others had arrived not too long ago, the last one was ready. She needed to call him home.

Yeah! I'm so excited! In this chapter (those of you who are in my RPG) will find out your fates.

Also theres a bit of kissing in this chapter. (just thought I should let you know.)

Chapter 14: The “Ceremony’s”

We were sent back to the training grounds to wait for what felt like forever. Finally evening was upon us and we were brought outside the training grounds with everyone to wait for our fate. Peter stood in the center of all of us.

“We have five trainees who made it through the exam this week.” He explained.

Everyone applauded.

Peter took out his book. “Newton.”

Everyone applauded again and he walked to the center of the crowd to Peter.

Peter smiled kindly. “You showed excellent tactical skills and great brilliance to defeat your opponent; you hardly gave him a chance.” Peter smirked slightly and Newton blushed. “Newton, you are given Roman for a teacher. He is also an indestructible and he will defiantly be able to teach you how to further your skills.”

A man walked up to Newton. He had white hair that was slightly long, gentle brown eyes and glasses.

“Kinda like Newton…” I thought.

“You will become great.” Peter promised and Roman and Newton left. Peter looked back at his book. “Rea.” He called.

Everyone applauded and she walked onto the stage.

Peter smiled at her. “We had to have your battle last for fear you’d burn the place down, but you’ve really learned to control your flame and took down your opponent with minimal burns.” He winked. “Rea, your new teacher will be Zack, though not your friend Zak, but a different one.”

Everyone chuckled and a man with jet black hair and neon green eyes walked up to her.

Peter continued. “Though he doesn’t have the exact same power as you he still controls an element and will no doubt teach you well. You will become great.” Peter promised.

Rea bowed her head politely and she left with her new teacher.

Peter flipped a page and looked up with a grin. “Sacha.”

My entire body tingled with excitement. “I made it…” I walked slowly to Peter like I was in a dream.

Peter smiled. “You showed your skills and you’re excellent on the spot ideas. Every time you get a new opponent you always find a way to win, whether it’s by feigning or pushing through. Sacha, I will be your teacher.”

Everyone stood in shock, including the teachers.

Peter ignored them. “I have been teaching here for years waiting for the perfect student to arrive and I was immediately drawn to you… I will make you become great.” He promised.

I felt honored and bowed my head respectfully.

“Would you stand to the side while I finish up?” he asked.

I flushed slightly and nodded backing into the crowd.

Peter reopened his book. “Two left,”

“Miya and Zak!” I thought happily.

“Gordon.” Peter called.

Everyone applauded, but I stood stunned. One of my friends wasn’t going to pass. I didn’t hear who the kid got for a teacher and when I finally got my bearings Peter was about to announce the last person who passed.

“Miya.” He called.

Everyone applauded and my heart soared. I had worried that because I had beaten her she wouldn’t have passed. Then the realization Zak hadn’t made it set in. I looked in his direction, he looked utterly crushed.

“You didn’t win your battle, but you showed excellent fighting skills and I believed you ready. Miya, your teacher will be Yin.”

An Asian woman walked up. She had long white hair and brilliant turquois eyes.

“She is an awesome fighter and trust me, she’ll teach you well! You both may have different powers, but I have a feeling you two will work well together. You will become great.” He promised.

Miya bowed her head respectfully and left with Yin.

Since the ceremonies were over I walked over to Zak and put a hand on his shoulder. He shoved it off roughly. “Leave me alone.” He hissed walking off back to the boy’s side of the training grounds. I started to go after him but Peter put a hand on my shoulder.

It’ll be alright. Come we have another ceremony to do.” He smiled softly and gently led me away.

I couldn’t help but look over my shoulder one last time in Zak’s direction just to see his red hair disappeared into the training grounds. Peter led me a little ways down a path into a forest. Finally we got to a large bomb fire with stumps all around. All of the trainees who passed were already there and waiting for us. I plopped myself down by Newton.

Newton patted me on the back. “He’ll pass next week.” He promised.

I sighed and nodded slightly.

Peter stretched and sat back against a tree near the fire. “Hey Sacha.” He called.

I looked over to him.

“Did you know most of the teachers here are part of the escapees?” He asked.

I looked rather surprised.

Peter sat up a bit more. “Yin, Zack, Roman, were all part of the group.”

A young man with dark brown hair and brown eyes walked over to the fire, smirking. “Don’t forget about me.” He said.

“Josh!” Peter said with a smile. “Come to join us?”

Josh nodded and plopped down by the fire. “You actually took in a student so I came to see.”

Peter rolled his eyes. “All proud of me are we?”

Josh stuck out his tongue playfully.

“Who else was in your group?” I asked.

Peter tapped his chin. “Lemme see, Clayton, but he just left for a raid so you may not see him for a while… Jason, Aliyah and Leo probably went with him too now that I think about it… Then there’s Gumdrop who’s a Gama teacher, she’s really good to. Lastly there’s Tim, Sky, Aaron and Oranges…. Tim died during our escape and Aaron, Sky and his dragon…. They went to battle and were never seen again.” Peter’s fists tightened and he squeezed his eyes shut.

I could tell he was pained by his friend’s disappearance.

“What about me?” A woman’s voice asked. Peter was about to turn when someone yanked his hair and pulled his head back so he’d look at her. It was Madeline, Christine’s teacher. She drew Peter into a long kiss and I rolled my eyes turning to look at Newton who smirked slightly.

She finally let him go. “I was part of the group to you know.” She said looking hurt.

Peter blushed. “I didn’t mean it! You were the grand finally.”

She shook her head clicking her tongue, but still smiling. She looked in my direction and nodded politely and I nodded back. Christine walked over to the fire and sat down. She, Miya and Rea talked a bit.

Peter softly touched Madeline’s stomach. “You sure you want to take on a student while you’re pregnant?” He asked.

Madeline rolled her eyes. “You don’t think two healers can’t take on a baby?”

Peter flushed. “Well, I didn’t mean it that…” She kissed him again before he could say anything more.

Just then a band walked in and started to play some upbeat music using mostly hand drums. Madeline winked at Peter and started a complicated dance by the fire. We all clapped our hands to the music to encourage her. She then grabbed Yin’s hand and pulled her to the fire. Yin didn’t look incredibly excited about dancing, but she soon joined in and danced anyway. Everyone slowly joined, but I stayed off to the side until Miya grabbed my hand. “Come on its fun.” She told me.

I blushed. “I-I can’t dance.” I told her.

This didn’t affect her decision and she pulled me over to the fire. She moved so gracefully, like an angel and I could only watch.  She took my hand again and started to move me around. “Feel the beat.” She told me softly. “That’s the first step.”

I moved rather awkwardly, but forced myself to dance alongside of her. It got late rather quick but we all danced, talked or ate. This “ceremony” was more of an age old tradition, to enjoy finishing the group training and getting prepared for one on one training.

“Just wait till I finish training you.” Peter told me. “The party after that is even more exciting.”

I laughed. The party continued on until everyone was just sitting down or lying down slowly falling asleep. Even I drifted off.

So some of you maybe have noticed that your characters aren't playing a big part right now. Don't worry! They will. Just remember the main focus of this book is Sacha.

Also its fairly sad that Zak didn't make it. Trust me though, it plays a big part later in the book.

Pics up top! -^-^-

Yay! I'm happy that Zack is in the story. (My Zack not Zak. XP You're right this could get confusing...)

*Sees picture of Tim* WHY TIM WHY? okay I'm done now.  I can't chose a favorite chapter they are all to good.

Glad you guys like it! I hope I do a good job on your characters.

So what did you guys think of everybody's fates?

Sky, Aaron and Oranges could be dead. (I actually haven't decided yet...)

Gumdrop is still cute but now a teacher

Peter and Madeline have started a family.

And all of your guy's characters are teachers or off in battle!

Jason's on a raid!! Cool!!

Lovin it!!!

I'm good with mine. :)

I would have wrote Josh the same way he is more layed back, in the Escapees he is serious with a hint of kid in him, You are in excellent writer. One question how do you write are characters? Did you read are post in the Escapees and pretty much took their actions and made them older? (That's what I would've done:)

Well... lemme try to explain. After interacting with your character through the RPG I've gotten a peek into their personality the rest just comes naturally. Its the same with the rest of my books. Most of the time while I write I have no clue whats going to happen until i've written it. So you could say that I'm a sub-concious writer. lol

Same here! I only have a vague idea in my stories and the rest is up in the air. :P Like the whole water thing in Aerien...I have no idea where that came from but it was cool!

Chapter 15: Beginning the Journey

We didn’t get to sleep long because soon the sun came over the trees and we were forced to face the day. I watched as everyone was slowly waking up and helped Peter cook a large breakfast.

Peter stretched slightly. “Man we’re going to be tired.”

I laughed but it turned into a yawn.

“Not great for our long trip.” Peter told me.

My eyes widened. “We got to go somewhere??? After sleeping so little???”

Peter rubbed the back of his head laughing nervously. “I just remembered now actually.”

I sighed loudly. “So now we gotta go for a big long trek I’m guessing.”

Madeline sat by Peter. “Where are you going?”

Peter smiled softly. “We’ll only be gone about a week or so.” He promised. “We’re going into the mountains, Elias wants to get more involved with the war again and he wants us to try and make an alliance with the mountain tribe.”

Madeline looked worried. “But that could be so dangerous.”

He kissed her softly. “You don’t think your brave warrior can’t do it?” he asked pressing his nose to hers.

She giggled and they soon both were sprawled on the ground. I rolled my eyes and make sure the meat didn’t burn. “So there are other groups other than the king and the mind crushers?” I asked interrupting.

Peter sat back up helping Madeline up as well. “Yes plenty.” He said as if nothing ever happened.

I rolled my eyes again.

Newton plopped himself down beside me and I nearly jumped out of my skin when I realized he didn’t have his glasses on. I laughed. “It’s been years since I’ve seen without those things.” I said.

Newton chuckled. “Yeah, I usually really need them. Here let me help you.” He tried to grab a metal poker to move the logs around but reached for a burning branch.

I caught his hand just in time. “Put on your glasses!” I told him feeling all panicky.

Newton muttered as he blindly got up and felt around for his glasses.

Rea took Newton’s seat and sat extra close to me. “Sooo Sacha.” She began playing with my name on her tongue.

I swallowed nervously.

She somehow got closer and I could feel myself beginning to sweat. “I was thinking that just me and you could do something.” She told me slowly so I could chew on every word.

“Uh er.” I stumbled on the words. “What the heck do I tell her?” I wondered.

Miya walked over and managed to squeeze herself between me and Rea. “Morning!” she said happily to me. She looked in Rea’s direction and gave her a warning look.

“Thank you.” I thought.

“No problem.” Miya whispered.

To avoid further trouble I quickly busied myself with making breakfast and handing it out. I watched as Roman and Newton were already bonding as they ate. I couldn’t help but smile. Newton looked so happy to have a teacher who was quite a lot like him. Rea had been huffing and shoving her breakfast down angrily. Her teacher Zack sat down by her looking amused. They started talking and it looked like Rea was soon pouring her heart out to him. He nodded listening to all her problems. Miya was chatting with Yin moving her arms in fluent motions which I guessed they were talking about martial arts or something. Madeline was showing Christine something with a stick and she snapped it loudly making me shutter wondering what healing had to do with that.

Peter walked over to me. “Finish up so we can get started. We’ve got a long walk ahead of us.”

I nearly choked on my… well um it kinda looked like green eggs… “What we have to walk?!? Why couldn’t we take horses?”

“Two reasons.” Said Peter. “First is that we’d need really strong horses that can last for many days and those are expensive. Two because we need horses that are prepared for the mountains and those are even more expensive so if you put two and two together you get very expensive.”

I sighed. “I get the point.” I muttered. I shoved the rest of my food into my mouth and waved to my friends. I slung my bag over my shoulder and ran after Peter waving one last time before we disappeared into the forest.

“So.” I began. “What would you prefer I call you?” I asked.

Peter smirked. “How about great master of the universe?”

“Um no.” I laughed.

“I’m just kidding. You can call me Peter, but around other people I prefer you’d call me your master because it’s proper edict here.”

I scrutinized him to see if he was telling the truth.

He held his hands in surrender. “I’m serious.”

“Fine.” I said. “I’ll believe you for now.”

I actually really liked Peter he reminded me of Nathan. Except Nathan had turned 2-old-4-U on me. I missed the old Nathan and wonder why he changed. Me and Peter bonded and got to know each other for the day. I hardly noticed my lack of sleep until the sun was just getting ready to set when we decided to make camp and go straight to sleep. Our “camp” was two sleeping bags and a fire, but it would do. As I was falling asleep I began to think about how lucky I was. I was in a different world, had my cousin for a teacher and was on my way to becoming great. I soon drifted off.

I was wakened with a splash of water in my face. I sputtered and sat up.

“Wakey wakey.” Peter told me packing the rest of the gear.

I rolled up my sleeping bag and secretly ripped off a chuck of moss from the ground. I whirled around to throw it but found Peter gone and someone from behind me hold my arm.

“You really do still have a lot to learn.” Peter said from behind me.

He shook my arm so I dropped the moss and passed me my sleeping bag. “Let’s get moving.”

I sighed and ran after him.
