Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the Netflix MCU

Okay this is going to be a quick non spoiler review/overview of the first season of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones as well as the future of the MCU on Netflix. The reason I am not putting this up on my website The Movie Stand is because though they are connected to the MCU, these are still shows and not movies. That being said, let's dive in.

TV-MA. That's the rating of both of these shows. These are the most dark and gritty MCU installments to date. Does this rating hurt the MCU? Not at all. These shows are very true to their comic book characters. Daredevil is mostly TV-MA for violence (lots), drug use, frightening images (again, not for me but some people), and language where as Jessica Jones is rated TV-MA for violence (once again, lots), sex (most sexual series in the MCU but no nudity), language (more than Daredevil), lots of alcohol and drug use, and frightening images (again, not for me but some people).

Okay, so maybe this isn't your cup of tea but it doesn't mean it's not good. I've had issues with the TV side of MCU ever since the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The addition of Agent Carter didn't do much to help. You see, both of these shows are rated TV-PG when they really should be rated TV-14 like DC Comic's Arrow. When Daredevil came out, I binged watched it for 10 hours then slept and binged for another 3 hours the next day. From the very first episode, I knew that this was what the TV side of the MCU should feel like. Granted I knew that this MCU could never air on TV and that I'd have to settle with a TV-14 rating (which I would be fine with). Flash forwards 7 months, 11 days later and we have the release of Jessica Jones. After watching all of Daredevil, I knew that Netflix could do no wrong. As I've watched this show, dare I say that it has a better villain in Kilgrave (David Tennant) than Daredevil did in Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).

Now the future! We will be getting at least 3 more Netflix MCU shows in the form of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. After seeing Mike Colter play Luke in Jessica Jones, I am totally on board with his solo show. I think the Netflix show I am most interested in is Iron Fist. He character is just intriguing and it'd be interesting how they pull off his powers. Both the second season of Daredevil and Luke Cage are set to release sometime in 2016.

I'm putting this on my website even though I said it doesn't fit there. After thinking about it, it does belong there as it connects to movies.

Hm. Okay, I will trust your word on this one, Ariel. Because from one codebearers to another, your word is good enough for me.

I dont think a date has been anounced yet, only that their would be two more seasons.
